PokerStars 7 Moves into Beta
The online poker site
PokerStars is in the process of receiving a facelift.
PokerStars 7 was released into Beta for anyone who wants to see what the future has in store for the client. Typically when any software goes into Beta mode, it means it has been
thoroughly tested by Alpha users and is ready for another level of fine-tuning before being released as an official software update.
PokerStars 7 followed this trend and, as far as PokerStars is concerned, it is now more about changing a little bit here and there based on comments of its Beta testers rather than a huge overhaul of software that has already been vetted in Alpha mode.
The new PokerStars 7 Beta software is available for real money and play money. When opening the new Beta client for the first time, you should notice both familiar and new looks to the software. The PokerStars branding is the same, but the site managed to redesign the software to provide a cleaner look.
You should notice a
simplified menu toolbar just containing four main tabs for "Quick Seat," "Main Lobby," "Favorites," and "News."
The "Quick Seat" tab makes it faster than ever to find the game you are looking for. Underneath this tab are two main sub-tabs for "Tournaments" and "Cash Games." From there, it is simple to find the game you are looking for via user-friendly drop-down menus.
You can also find the game you are looking for via more traditional means: using the "Main Lobby" tab. The "Main Lobby" tab features sub-tabs for "Cash Games," "Zoom," "Sit & Go," "Tournaments," and "Online Events." A great new feature in the "Main Lobby" tab is the added functionality of savable filters. While the existing client already has filters, players who used filters for different reasons were stuck wasting time constantly changing them when they could have already been seated at the table they want.
PokerStars 7 Beta's "Favorites" tab allows you to quickly enter the games you enjoy the most without needing to use the other tabs to find it. The "News" tab brings you up to speed on all of the latest PokerStars promotions and stories in a very easy-to-read format.
PokerStars also wants as much feedback as possible on the newest Beta release so its developers can, at the end of the day, deliver the best product possible.
Despite my excitement about the new and improved PokerStars, not everyone seems all that happy. TwoPlusTwo poster "shahrad" was disappointed with the new release. Here is what he had to say: "Sorry, but why did you guys named this PokerStars 7 and not PokerStars 6A. I really don't see any major improvements."

There is no way my wife will let me play PokerStars if you have a scantily dressed bimbo splashed over the cover. Come on guys, it's just 22 yr single males who play with you.
